Ballistics and Flight Characterization |
|
Xcitex software is used extensively in the ballistics and test range industries. The simplicity of 3-D calibration and analysis technologies make ProAnalyst and the ProAnalyst® 3-D Flight Path Editions ideal tools for characterizing the flight path of projectiles, missiles and small arms munitions. ProAnalyst supports flash X-ray imaging, shadowgraph imaging and ultra-high-speed imaging.
Shown here is the superimposed frame-by-frame flight path of a projectile in ballistic gel. |

The Japanese Defense Agency recently selected ProAnalyst 3-D Flight Path as the analysis package for their outdoor ultra-high-speed flight characteristics test facilities and their indoor shadowgraph range.
Xcitex software combines the digital stereo images with calibration data to compute pitch, roll, yaw, velocity and position of the projectiles. |

ProAnalyst software can track multiple flying objects per scene and present the data in absolute coordinates or relative to a real-world reference such as the flight line or muzzle axis. Shown here are flash X-ray images of a projectile with 3-piece sabot during initial separation stages. |
