Civil engineers study earthquake effects with ProAnalyst software

This video, highlighting the research of Dr. Sara Wadia-Fascetti, professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University, illustrates the vibration effects and structural performance of a model building under conditions simulating the 1995 earthquake in Kobe, Japan (magnitude 6.8).

This structural model is approximately 1.8 meters tall, resting on a shaker table measuring approximately 75 square centimeters. The model features an active mass damping mechanism at the top, allowing ProAnalyst to monitor the position, direction, velocity and acceleration of the seismic forces affecting the structure as the simulated earthquake takes place.

Pro Analyst's 1-D Line Tracking tools provide non-linear analysis of the motion of walls and stress points without the imposition of physical markers or sensors (accelerometers).
